About Us
Our Story
The Shield Her Congo Project was born not from history — but from silence. A silence surrounding the brutal use of sexual violence as a weapon of war in the Democratic Republic of Congo. SHCP began as a student-led initiative, sparked by the realisation that one of the world’s deadliest humanitarian crises was also one of the most ignored. With no headlines, no outrage, and no global urgency, we asked: If no one else will speak - why not us? We may be young, and this may be the beginning, but SHCP was founded on a simple truth: every voice matters when others have been silenced. Our mission is to raise awareness, advocate for justice, and create tangible change — from medical care and trauma support to legal aid and education. We're here to stand guard over the stories that have been buried, and the women who deserve more than survival - they deserve power. This is just the start. But we’re not waiting for permission to care.
Why We Exist
Because millions of women in the Congo suffer violence and injustice without a voice.
Because awareness and support are desperately lacking.
Because enough is enough.
We exist to provide that voice, to demand action, and to deliver real help where it’s needed most.
" Silence is acceptance. I refuse to be silent."
Our Vision
A future where every woman and child in Congo lives free from violence and fear. Where survivors have access to justice, care, and empowerment. Where the silence is shattered, and their stories inspire global change - because protection, dignity, and hope are basic human rights.
